Addiction, Hope, and Redemption Shine in Charlie Harris’ Latest Folk-Rock Single “Give Me Love”

Folk-rock singer-songwriter Charlie Harris is back with his most vulnerable release yet. His new single, “Give Me Love,” tells the raw story of an alcoholic struggling to change, pleading with loved ones to look beyond his faults and offer the one thing he believes might save him—love.

The track dives into the quiet desperation of addiction and the fragile hope of redemption, delivered in Charlie’s signature blend of acoustic warmth and rock grit. With lyrics that cut deep and melodies that linger long after the song ends, “Give Me Love” is both a confession and a cry for connection.

“This song is about being at rock bottom but still clinging to the belief that love can be a catalyst for change,” says Charlie. “It’s a reminder that sometimes the most broken people are just asking to be seen, heard, and loved.”

Born and raised in Johannesburg, Charlie first discovered music at 13, when his uncle taught him a few guitar chords. A birthday guitar soon sealed his fate. After years of experimenting with bands like Hemisphere and Radio Unfriendly, he returned to his roots, forming Keep Guessing Charlie with friends Andre Feldmann, Shaun Ruysenaar, Louise Cloete, and Frank Coerlin. The band’s name was born from a spontaneous inside joke: “Keep Guessing, Charlie.”

Since then, Charlie has released two albums—Digital Dust (Side A) and Digital Dust (Side B)—and built a loyal following with his poetic songwriting, heartfelt performances, and unwavering pursuit of truth through music. His songs channel real-life struggles and victories, always underpinned by his belief in never giving up.

With “Give Me Love” and more new singles on the horizon for 2025, Charlie Harris continues to live by his mantra: never stop chasing your dream.

What inspired the song?

The song tells the story of someone struggling with alcoholism and regret and who truly wants to change. They’re sitting alone, still caught in the habit, but deep down they’re reaching out—asking for love, support, and just one more chance to make things right. The repeated line “Give me love, give me love, give me love, one more time…” really captures that desperate hope.
