Stereobuzz had the pleasure of meeting up with PAAB for this exclusive interview:

The relationship between Venus and Earth plays a significant role in the song. How did you decide to use this celestial symbolism to represent love?

When I wrote “Rose of Venus,” I was in a relationship marked by alternating phases of closeness and distance, which made it challenging to find stability. This mirrored the dynamic between the two planets and felt emblematic of my personal experience with love. When I first learned about the Rose of Venus, or Venus Pentagram – which depicts the eight-year cyclical movement of Venus, the planet of love, and Earth – I recognised how much it mirrors the patterns in many relationships. It illustrates that love is not always constant but often consists of alternating phases of closeness and distance. This understanding can help us step back and realise that the challenges we face in love are not a reflection of our worth or inadequacy, but rather the natural rhythm of love itself. Ultimately, it’s up to us to decide whether this pattern of love is something we want in our lives or not.

Can you describe the journey of writing and producing “Rose of Venus”? Were there any challenges or breakthroughs along the way?

It was a deeply personal and transformative experience. The idea for the song came from my fascination with the Venus Pentagram and its symbolism of love’s cyclical nature. As I worked through the concept, I found myself reflecting on my own relationships, which brought a certain vulnerability to the songwriting process. The biggest breakthrough was realising how much the movement of Venus and Earth mirrored the dynamics of love- periods of closeness and distance, growth and challenge- giving the song a strong narrative foundation. One of the challenges I faced was balancing the spiritual depth of the song’s concept with the accessibility of a pop structure. I wanted to make sure the message about love’s natural rhythms was clear and relatable, while still delivering an engaging melody that listeners could connect with emotionally. Collaborating with Jamie Stirling and Robert Wow made the production process smoother and more enjoyable, as we were all aligned creatively. We experimented with different sounds to capture the ethereal, yet grounded energy of the song, and there was a real sense of flow throughout the production. The end result felt true to the message I wanted to share – an empowering reflection on the cycles of love and the importance of finding harmony within them.

Do you think the themes of energy and spirituality in your music resonate more deeply with certain audiences?

I really believe that the truths in my music are universal, and my goal is to present them in a way that is accessible, memorable and relatable to a wide audience. While spirituality and energy play a significant role in the inspiration behind my songs, I intentionally avoid filling them with esoteric mantras or overly abstract verses that might be difficult for some listeners to connect with. Instead, I focus on emotions and experiences that we all encounter in our lives – love, heartbreak, personal growth, the search for meaning – and weave those into my music in a way that feels both grounded and relatable. I aim to bridge the gap between the spiritual and the everyday by speaking directly to the human experience. The emotions we go through- whether it’s joy, sorrow, longing, or transformation- are universal, and I believe these emotions have their counterparts in the spiritual space. By keeping my lyrics centred on real-life situations and feelings, listeners can connect to the music on a personal level, even if they’re not consciously engaging with the spiritual undertones. The goal is to offer something deeper without alienating anyone with overly complex spiritual concepts. I want listeners to be able to feel something meaningful, even if they don’t fully understand the symbolic or energetic layers behind it.

In what ways do you hope “Rose of Venus” will stand out in the pop music landscape?

I hope “Rose of Venus” stands out in the pop music landscape by offering a unique blend of emotional depth, spirituality, and accessibility that isn’t always present in mainstream pop. In an industry that often prioritises quick, surface-level appeal, I want “Rose of Venus” to engage listeners on a deeper level, providing both an enjoyable musical experience and a thoughtful exploration. The song’s connection to the Venus Pentagram and its representation of love’s natural rhythms offers a fresh, spiritual perspective on relationships that isn’t just about heartbreak or romance but about embracing the complexities and cycles of love itself. I also hope the song’s production, which blends ethereal, atmospheric sounds with modern pop elements, creates a distinctive sonic identity. I want “Rose of Venus” to stand out as a piece that combines spiritual richness with mainstream pop appeal, offering listeners a space for reflection, healing, and connection while still delivering the infectious energy of pop music.

How do you see the relationship between music and healing energy? Do you believe music can serve as a form of spiritual guidance?

Music, just like other forms of art, has the ability to touch us on an emotional, mental and even physical level, creating a space where healing can take place. I absolutely believe that music can serve as a form of spiritual guidance. Just as meditation or energy work helps align our thoughts and emotions, music can open channels for self-reflection, emotional release and connection with a higher sense of purpose or peace. When people listen to the music, they often find a part of themselves reflected in it. This reflection can offer clarity, provide comfort, or even present solutions to emotional struggles. Certain sounds, frequencies, or lyrical messages can evoke feelings of calm, love, or empowerment, reminding us of our own inner strength or helping us reconnect with a sense of balance. I strive to create songs that embody these healing energies, blending meaningful lyrics with melodies that lift the spirit and open the heart.
