STEREOBUZZ POP INTERVIEWS: Thirteen-year-old actor-recording artist ‘Alexander James (AJ) Rodriguez’ talks to Stereobuzz about his captivating 2nd Pop single and debut music video ‘Your Smile’

Alexander James (AJ) Rodriguez has dropped his debut music video for his second single ‘Your Smile’ – quarantine style.

INTERVIEW:

What do you hope your supporters will think of the new song?

‘Your Smile’ is centered around a young girl’s captivating smile that is suddenly noticed by one of her friends, who is looking at her with a different appreciation for the very first time. Her admirer dreams of whisking her away for sandy toes and snow cones on the beach. The lyrics are about how she shouldn’t change a thing as she is fly just the way she is. It is fun, light and bursting full of summer!

Can you tell us a bit about its music video?

Well, due to the current COVID-19 filming restrictions in Los Angeles, we had to be really careful, so I just had two of my friends, Annabelle Yaacov and Kassidy Burkett, and one videographer, Devin Alpanian, plus my mum of course, on set.

We tried to incorporate some of Malibu’s most gorgeous hotspots, and of course me catching a wave at my favourite place, the beach.

You also have more music coming out in 2020. What can we look forward to later this year?

I recorded three records back in May. ‘My Crew’ which released on July 7, then ‘Your Smile’ and then on September 9th ‘Up To You’, written by Alex Jacke and Liz Rodriguez is releasing.

Also, a really cool club DJ from the UK has done a fantastic remix on My Crew, Tempo Elektrik, which came out August 28. It was executive produced by Dan Bewick and is dope. His music is supported by KISS FM UK, BBC Radio 1 and Capital Radio in London. I am due to get back in the studio for a further three songs and on September 26, I am recording a very special Christmas cover song.
